Amanda Jane Shannon

Amanda Jane Shannon is a singer songwriter and poet based in County Clare. She has always had a lovely affair with words and songs, as recounted by her mom that she would find little notes all around when she learned to write. Amanda’s love of expression and writing, singing was really nurtured in her early years and in her local Gaelscoil. This has remained part of her lifestyle, be it in subject choices in her degree and embellished upon as she taught English in on conventional styles to her Transition year students. However after the loss of her husband in 2017, Amanda has embraced a slower pace of life and made her writing practices more personal. Dealing with grief and illness she spent more time crafting her own writing rituals which prioritised her writing of poetry and songs. Side by side her music project Phoenix and Wolfe and her poetry have flourished as she writes in English and Irish. She is currently making submissions sharing her heart on her sleeve through her evocative and raw style whilst also editing and preparing her first collection.
