Shane Healey

Shane “S. K.” Healy is a UCC Music graduate and longtime multimedia creator. Writing since his early teens, he is passionate about creativity in all forms, and he believes art is very much a shared endeavor. In poetry, he has won prizes at Listowel Writers’ Week and was shortlisted for the Oliver Goldsmith Literary Festival. He has previously worked in radio, as well as in freelance journalism online, and is currently a proud staff member of record store, MusicZone, in Cork, where he co-writes a weekly email newsletter. Movies, music, science, video games, books, sport, photography among other things are his passions. Sci if, horror, fantasy and thriller to be more specific with movies and books. Having struggled with mental health issues since his early 20s, he writes with empathy and hopes that his writing can in some way help people to navigate similar. In February 2023 he released his debut novel, ‘Once Upon a Human Sky’; a young adult dystopian adventure about suppressed subtle superpowers, which was launched in Cork City Library. And in music he goes by the name bÚkl, a character from the world of his book. His debut EP, ‘Songs from Aunn Teer’ was released last October. He also has a YouTube channel under @bUklMusic. His goals for the coming years are to publish a collection of poems and record an album.

Vitor Vicente

Vitor Vicente is a Portuguese author who has lived abroad since 2006, between Spain, Ireland, Poland and Hungary, and currently resides in Dublin.  He is the author of 12 published books, with the theme of travelling running through all his work. His latest title is the poetry collection “Harry Kernoff’s Guest”, which also contains reproductions of the paintings that inspired the writing. The launch took place in April 2023 at the Irish Jewish Museum in Dublin and later was presented at the Sea Week Festival in Connemara and at the Jewish Cultural Centre in Lisbon. Vitor Vicente collaborates with The Echo with a sports column.

Karen Pierce Gonzalez is an award-winning writer whose work has appeared in numerous print and online publications, radio shows, and podcasts. Her chapbooks include Coyote in the Basket of My Ribs (Kelsay Books), True North and Sightings from a Star Wheel (Origami Poems Project), and forthcoming Down River with Li Po (Black Cat Poetry Press). Writing credits also include several short plays staged through Fringe Festival of Marin (USA). With degrees in creative writing, anthropological linguistics, and folklore, she is also a former journalist and folklore columnist who now hosts a quarterly ‘Get Ekphrastic with Folk Art’ blogzine on FolkHeart Press. Other current projects include a series of videos based upon 1) original folktales/legends and 2) imagined prequels/sequels to fables and fairy tales. Her visual artistry focuses primarily upon assemblage art based upon elements found in nature (tree bark, bird nests, etc.). To date, 50+ of her art pieces, including six cover images, have been or are scheduled to be published in a range of literary journals/magazines.

Damien B Donnelly, Producer, Host and Poet

Damien B Donnelly is a 48-year-old Irish, adopted, gay writer and podcast producer who spent 23 years living in Paris, Amsterdam, and London forking in the fashion industry, returning to Dublin at the end of 2019. He is the host and producer of the poetry podcast Eat the Storms and the editor-in-chief of The Storms, a journal of poetry, prose and visual art. His debut pamphlet, Eat the Storms, published by The Hedgehog Poetry Press, nominated for a Pushcart Prize and featured on the Poetry Book Society Winter List 2020/21, followed by a Pushcart Prize nominated Stickleback (micro collection) and In the Jitterfritz of Neon, a conversational pamphlet co-written with Eilín de Paor. His first full collection Enough! was published by Hedgehog in August 2022. His poetry and short stories have appeared in numerous journals, both online and in print. His 2nd full collection is due out in May 2024 with Turas Press
