Liz McSkeane is a writer, publisher and creative writing teacher. She has four collections of poetry, one novel and a collection of short stories.  In 2017, she set up the independent publishing company, Turas Press which to date has published 26 titles by 13 writers. Liz was the 1999 Hennessy New Irish Writer of the Year and her historical novel “Canticle” was a winner in the 2016 Irish Writers Centre Novel Fair. She has recently completed her 2nd novel.

Ross Hattaway

Ross Hattaway has been published widely and has read in Ireland, the UK, the USA, Australia, New Zealand and Lithuania and he is a founder member of the Sunflower Sessions in Dublin. He has four poetry collections: Plain (Turas Press, 2021), How to Sleep with Strangers (Turas Press, 2018),  The Gentle Art of Rotting (Seven Towers Press, 2006) and Pretending to Be Dead (Seven Towers Press, 2012).

Eithne Lannon

Eithne Lannon is a poet from Dublin. She has two collections published, Earth Music and Everything Gathers Light, the former was shortlisted for the 2020 Shine/Strong Award. Both collections have received wide acclaim in reviews. Eithne is the recipient of several Bursaries from Fingal Arts Council and been published in a wide variety of journals and Anthologies both in Ireland and internationally. Her poetry has won and been placed in numerous poetry competitions. She was a finalist in this year’s Gregory O’ Donoghue Competition and Runner up in Prole Poetry 2024. She was previously winner of the Ballyroan Competition.

Emma McKervey

Behind the Storms featured guest

Emma McKervey lives in a fishing village on the Ards Peninsula in Northern Ireland.  She has been writing poetry since childhood. Her first collection was published by Doire Press in 2017.  Her second collection is Highland Boundary Fault, published by Turas Press. It is based on a family story of intercepted love letters between the young couple who were to become Emma’s great grandparents, Donald from the Isle of Lewis, and Lizzie from Greenock.

Damien B Donnelly

Damien B Donnelly is a 48-year-old Irish, adopted, queer writer and podcast producer who spent 23 years living in Paris, Amsterdam, and London working in the fashion industry, returning to Dublin at the end of 2020. He is the host and producer of the poetry podcast Eat the Storms and the editor-in-chief of The Storms, a journal of poetry, prose and visual art. His debut pamphlet, Eat the Storms, published by The Hedgehog Poetry Press, nominated for a Pushcart Prize and featured on the Poetry Book Society Winter List 2020/21, followed by a Pushcart Prize nominated Stickleback (micro collection) and In the Jitterfritz of Neon, a conversational pamphlet co-written with Eilín de Paor. His first full collection Enough! was published by Hedgehog in August 2022. His poetry and short stories have appeared in numerous journals, both online and in print. His 2nd full collection is Back from Away published by Turas Press.
