Michael McKimm

Collection of the Week

Originally from north Antrim, Northern Ireland, Michael McKimm has lived for many years in London, UK. He won an Eric Gregory Award in 2007 and was an International Writing Fellow at the University of Iowa in 2010. His most recent poetry collection is Because we could not dance at the wedding (Worple, 2023), following his collections Still This Need (Heaventree, 2009) and Fossil Sunshine (Worple, 2013). Michael has edited two anthologies: MAP: Poems after William Smith’s Geological Map of 1815 (Worple, 2015) and The Tree Line: Poems for Trees, Woods & People (Worple, 2017). His poems are included in the anthologies The Future Always Makes Me So Thirsty: New Poets from the North of Ireland (Blackstaff, 2016) and Queering the Green: Post-2000 Queer Irish Poetry (Lifeboat, 2021).

Eileen Casey

Originally from the Midlands, Eileen Casey is a poet, fiction writer and journalist. Her work is widely included in literary journals and magazines.  Poetry/prose feature in anthologies by Dedalus, Faber & Faber, New Island, The Nordic Irish Studies Journal, Poetry Ireland, The Moth, The Stinging Fly, Abridged, among others. A recipient of a Hennessy/Sunday Tribune (Emerging Fiction) Award, she also received a Katherine and Patrick Kavanagh Fellowship. Poetry collections are published by New Island, Rua Red Arts Centre, Tallaght Community Arts Centre, Arlen House and Fiery Arrow. ‘Bogmen First and Last’ (Fiery Arrow)was awarded a Creative Ireland Community Award and she’s received numerous bursaries and residences from South Dublin, County Offaly and the Arts Council, An Comhairle Ealaíonn. Bog Treasure (Arlen House) is her most recent poetry collection, a collaboration with Jeanne Cannizzo, Vancouver. She holds an M.Phil in Creative Writing (The Oscar Wilde House, The School of English, Trinity College, Dublin). She lives in Tallaght, South Dublin County

Galia Almondi & Daragh Fleming

Galia Admoni is Head of English at a school in London. She has poems in The Rialto 100, Bad Lilies, The North, The Interpreter’s House and others. She is forthcoming in the Under your Pillow erotic anthology and was shortlisted for Urban Tree Festival competition. She recently placed third in Briefly Write’s Poetry Prize and her debut pamphlet is due for publication in 2024

Daragh Fleming is an author from Cork, Ireland. His debut in nonfiction, a collection of essays on mental health called Lonely Boy, is  published by BookHub Publishing. He is a passionate voice for mental health advocacy and runs the award-winning mental heath blog, Thoughts Too Big, as well as working for Head of Content at A Lust For Life. He has work appearing in several literary magazines including The Ogham Stone, Beir Bua, Trasna, The Madrigal, Époque Magazine, The Storms, Wexford Bohemian and more. Fleming won the Cork Arts ‘From The Well’ Short Story Competition in 2021 and was longlisted for the Cúirt New Writing Prize in 2023.  Daragh was also the Faberlull writer-in-residence for October 2022 in Olot, Spain.

Margaret Royall

Margaret Royall has published five books of poetry and a memoir. Her work has appeared in print, online and in anthologies and has won or been listed in competitions. Her collection ‘Where Flora Sings’, (Hedgehog Press 2020,) was nominated for the Laurel Prize. She leads a Nottinghamshire poetry group and co-tutors a Hebridean writing retreat. Her next collection, ‘Toccata and Fugue’ ( Hedgehog Press) is due out in 2023.

Damien B Donnelly, Producer, Host and Poet

Damien B Donnelly is a 47-year-old Irish, adopted, gay writer and podcast producer who spent 23 years living in Paris, Amsterdam, and London forking in the fashion industry, returning to Dublin at the end of 2019. He is the host and producer of the poetry podcast Eat the Storms and the editor-in-chief of The Storms, a journal of poetry, prose and visual art. His debut pamphlet, Eat the Storms, published by The Hedgehog Poetry Press, nominated for a Pushcart Prize and featured on the Poetry Book Society Winter List 2020/21, followed by a Pushcart Prize nominated Stickleback (micro collection) and In the Jitterfritz of Neon, a conversational pamphlet co-written with Eilín de Paor. His first full collection Enough! was published by Hedgehog in August 2022. His poetry and short stories have appeared in numerous journals, both online and in print. His 2nd full collection is due out in Spring 2024 with Turas Press
